It is very common when teenage patients or their parents ask us whether they would be able to continue playing sport or music instruments after they get braces or Invisalign. The answer is – yes, you can do your favorite activities, however, you need to remember about protection. If you do any contact sports activities, we highly recommend you purchase a mouthguard and wear it during your activities in order to protect your mouth, teeth, gums, and braces. If you are worried that braces will interfere with playing your favorite music instruments, you should know that there might be a period you need to get used to playing an instrument with braces. In case you experience a strong discomfort from your braces or it lasts for more than two weeks, you should not hesitate to call our office as soon as possible. Our orthodontists will help alleviate any discomfort that you experience. Finally, the fact that you’re playing sport or music instruments should not stop you from achieving a happy and confident smile. When you get your braces treatment, you should still easily play sport or instruments, only some time is needed to get used to it.
