Top Orthodontist: Braces, Invisalign

What to Ask an Orthodontist Before You Get Invisalign?

Choosing the right orthodontic treatment can be confusing, especially if there are many different options to select from.

Various treatment options include traditional metal braces, ceramic & Iconix braces, Invisalign, and more.

Among all of these orthodontic treatments, Invisalign is the most popular procedure that aligns teeth to their correct positions without compromising your appearance or daily lifestyle.

The hygienic routine and instructions to be followed are simpler than other treatment options.

If you don’t want to miss out on your favorite food and activities you love, below we answer some frequently asked questions that you might have for your orthodontist regarding Invislign treatment.

This depends on the patient and on the severity of their orthodontic problems. It could take less or more time but generally it is quicker than traditional metal braces.

Some of our patients finish their treatment in 8-10 months while others might take longer.

After the initial treatment, you will be required to wear your aligners overnight so that the teeth stay in place forever. The set of instructions to follow will be simpler and you would already be following the required oral hygiene routine.

The cost of Invisalign treatment varies from patient to patient and case to case.

Invisalign treatment typically ranges from $2,800 to $4,800.

We recommend that you check with your insurance company to see if they are able to cover some of your treatment costs. We also offer easy payment plans to make the cost as affordable as possible.

Yes, Invisalign treatment is absolutely safe and comfortable. The plastic aligners are customized to fit your specific mouth and tackle each individual orthodontic issue.

We observe your teeth in a 3D manner using the iTero intraoral scanner for digital impressions. These impressions are used to create a custom set of plastic aligners that will fit your teeth perfectly.

The experience of Invisalign treatment is different from traditional treatments, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

  • You have to remove your aligners while eating and drinking.
  • Avoid all sorts of consumption that can stain the enamel, because then it will lose its transparency.
  • You may develop a lisp in the beginning as you are adjusting to your aligners.
  • Your commitment to wearing the aligners is required and this discipline will ensure that your treatment is successful.

The standard guidelines are:

  • Wear your aligners at least 22 hours daily.
  • Remove your aligners when eating or drinking to prevent damage or discoloration.
  • Brush your teeth before replacing your aligners to prevent tooth decay.
  • Clean your aligners regularly.
  • Change your aligners every 1-2 weeks depending on the instructions from your orthodontist.
  • Visit your orthodontist every 8-10 weeks for new aligners.
  • Set up a retention plan for post-treatment success.

This rarely happens. However, if someone steps on them or sits on them, they could break. You should try to book an appointment for help. Sometimes, you can wear previous aligners until your appointment or you could try wearing your next set of aligners. If this does not work, during your next appointment, your orthodontist will help create new ones, if necessary.

Besides eating, you should always be wearing your aligners. Use your replacement tray to avoid breakage or loss.

Yes, they do. Whether you go for Invisalign treatment or traditional braces, the result will be the same.

The difference with Invisalign treatment is that you will experience less pain compared to traditional braces and you will be able to eat anything you want.

The good news is that with Invisalign treatment, you don’t have to change your daily routine.

You just need to take care while playing sports involving physical contact and avoid eating foods and drinks that might leave stains. Try not to drink anything except water when you have your aligners on. You should also try to avoid clenching or biting hard.

Remove your aligners while eating and keep them safe in replacement trays to avoid losing them.

Each set is custom-made with different designs, so if you lose or break your tray, it can cost anywhere from $50 to $100 depending on your treatment specifics.

The number of visits during Invisalign treatment is less than traditional braces. You only need to visit once every two or three months for new trays.
