The American Association of Orthodontists suggest that kids at the age of 7 can have their first visit at an orthodontist to see if there is any need of orthodontic treatment. The best age for braces teeth is between 10 and 14 years because at this age the head and mouth are still growing and teeth are more conducive to straightening. How Long Will I Have To Wear Braces?
The duration of wearing braces depends upon your treatment plan. There is no braces age limit, but the more complicated your orthodontic problem is, and the older you are, the longer you will have to wear braces. Most patients have to wear full braces between 18 and 30 months, and then have to wear a retainer for at least a few months to up to two years to set and align tissues surrounding your newly straightened teeth. In some cases you might have to wear a permanent retainer if you do not want your bite to return to the way it used to be.
